"I Like Large Parties, They're So Intimate"

Hiiiii :D

This afternoon when I  went to pick up the mail, I noticed there was a small package for me. I knew what it was right away and became very excited!
Last week my friends and I went to see The Great Gatsby. I will admit I was a bit skeptical about seeing it just because of how they paired modern music with a movie that is set in the 1920s. I actually really enjoyed it  although there were certain things about the film that I wasn't too crazy about. One of my favourite aspects of the movie actually ended up being the soundtrack! The music made the film come to life and it just fit perfectly despite what I previously thought! I loved it so much that I purchased the CD online at Walmart (free shipping!!! yay!) So it finally came today and I was ecstatic.

Needless to say I have already listen to the album and downloaded it onto my Ipod. My favourite tracks are Young and Beautiful by Lana Del Ray and Over the Love by Florence + the Machine. I also love A  Little Party Never Killed Nobody (All We Got) by Fergie ft Q-tip & Goonrock. That's a little more upbeat!

I think what they did on the inside of the case is perfect!

Feel free to leave any of your thoughts about the movie, soundtrack or anything you may come to mind:)

My Last Visit

Hiiii :)

This morning was very emotional for me. First off I guess I should tell you that I have Type 1 Diabetes (Juvenile Diabetes). I have had it for six years and it has just become a part of my life now. I have learned to live with it.

Every three months I have to go for a Diabetes check up appointment to make sure I am healthy and am in control of my Diabetes. My clinic is in the hospital I go to and I absolutely LOVE everyone who works there! I have been going there since I was diagnosed at 13 years old so basically they have been with me for all of my teen years. They are all such lovely kind people and they are honestly like a family to me.

Unfortunately at the age of 18 it is required that you switch to an adult clinic, the same as you would with just a regular family doctor. Although I am almost 19, they allowed me to go back for a few more visits. This morning was my final appointment there and it broke my heart to have to say goodbye. I just love the people who work there so much and they mean a lot to me. They helped me so much through the years and I am forever grateful. I was fine up until the end of the visit when they called me back and gave me a little gift. I completely broke down. I just love it there so much and it is sad that I have to go somewhere else. The people who work in this clinic are so wonderful and I will miss them a lot. I gave them all a hug and said my goodbyes. Of course I promised to visit, and I definitely will because I love it there.

I opened the gift when I got home and it was a beautiful book called Joy. They had all written little messages in the front cover for me and I truly love it.

My kitty Dumbledore decided to be in the picture too ;)
So as I said before, it was a very emotional morning, and I absolutely love the little gift I was given.
I hope you all have a lovely day!

Tea

I just want to express my love for tea because it is just so wonderful. I have never liked coffee, ever. I just cannot drink it and I don't like the smell of it. So I drink tea instead and I love it. I would probably have to say it is my favourite hot beverage (well it's tied with hot chocolate).  There is just something about sipping hot tea from your favourite mug that is so relaxing. I find that it is perfect for any mood I am in, whether I am upset, angry, happy and so on. It can warm me up, calm me down, lift my spirits and just make me feel better in general. It is just the perfect drink. Usually food or drink related items that I like are bad for you (Chocolate is just so good!) so I can't have a lot at once, but that doesn't apply to tea. Tea is actually good for you which makes me extremely happy! I actually like to have chilled tea as well (iced tea) but more so with fruitier/sweeter teas.
I'm actually really weird when it comes to what I drink my tea in, I can be quite picky sometimes. My family has a numerous amount of mugs, and I do use a lot of them, however there are a few that I definitely use more often.

Best Mugs Ever!!!
Now I do LOVE my Harry Potter and Tinkerbell ones but my absolute favourite would have to be the soup one. My grandma gave us this one and we actually have two of them :) I am aware that is says SOUP on it but i really don't care, I use it for my tea! I cannot explain to you why I love it so much, I just do. The great things about these mugs is that they are all quite big which means more tea for me!! :D
At the moment my two go to teas are Stash's Peppermint tea and Teavana's Wild Orange Blossom tea. They are both very different from eachother but are both so delicious! Now to be honest I only discovered this peppermint tea last week when I went to my friends house and it is hands down the best peppermint tea I have ever tasted! I instantly fell in love and went out and bought some for myself. It is just really refreshing, and it makes your breathe smell like peppermint! The Wild Orange Blossom is a more fruity tea and it smells heavenly. It's hard to explain but it has this wonderful citrus scent and it is just wonderful! When this tea is made it is actually a pinky orange colour which is really pretty! Now I don't usually put anything in my tea but I don't even think you need milk or sugar for this tea because it is so sweet already.
Close up of the Wild Orange Blossom Tea.
In case you hadn't noticed already, I love tea ;)
I found this picture on Tumblr and it pretty much sums up how I feel about tea. I thought it was cute so enjoy! :)

I hope you all have a wonderful day and feel free to leave any thoughts you may have below!

Manicure Monday

Hiiii :)

Since today is Monday, I think it is only fitting that I show you my newly painted nails. Once again it is nothing special, I just think they are pretty and want to share them with you! I actually painted them last night, but let's just pretend I did them this morning ;)

Before I did my nails this time I used a sugar hand scrub from Bath and Body Works that I haven't had a chance to use yet. It smells so wonderful! I am awful at describing scents but here goes.... it was very sweet and I believe it is like a grapefruit scent. It's just s delicious, plus it made my hands feel very soft! I like it a lot and will definitely use it a lot!
I love watching movies when I do my nails, so my sister and I watched Enchanted. I hadn't seen it in a while and  I forgot how cute it is! I felt inclined while watching this film to paint my nails like a princess. This means sparkles and pretty colours.  I decided to paint my nails a shimmery gold colour with a thin sparkly pink layer on top. These two polishes combined create a rose gold colour that is really lovely. It looks very pretty in the sun as the light captures the shimmer and sparkles. I used Sally Hansen's "Golden-I" with OPI's "Teenage Dream" (Katy Perry).

I was pleased with the final result, and it was nice to finally paint my nails since it had been a while! Of course after I took this picture I ruined some of the nails not long after but what can you do!! :)
I hope you all have a lovely day wherever you may be!

Shopping Haul

Hiiii :)
Today, my friend had some errands to run so I decided to go with her. I did not intend to buy anything, but I should know myself better than that. I have very little self control when I enter a  store! I have decided to show you what I bought as I really enjoy reading blog posts like this.

First we went to Walmart which isn't too exciting. I have this obsession with makeup where I just love to buy it and I do have quite a lot. The odd thing is I don't actually wear a lot on most days. Usually I will just wear mascara and neutral eyeshadow or just nothing at all. I just recently started wearing blush sometimes as well. On special occasions I will wear a bit more, but nevertheless I love makeup. Anyways, we stopped at Walmart because I really wanted to get some makeup brushes. I didn't actually own any prior to this, so I thought it might be useful to get some. I ended up getting the real techniques brushes by Samantha Chapman. I heard that they are really good and they are and excellent price as well.

We then went into a store called Turquoise. They have some really cute dresses and tops and I found a plain black one that is perfect for work. I tried it on and really liked it. It is made from nylon and spandex so it was stretchy and comfy. The good thing was it was on sale so it was only $5 which is a really amazing price!

We then went to Urban Planet. I kind of went crazy here. I find it is one of those stores that sometimes they have so many things that I love and then other times there isn't anything. On this particular visit I found soooo many clothing items that I really liked! I have always loved jean vests but I have never owned one. I saw one that I really liked with little studs on it and it fit really nicely. I am very excited to wear this!

I also needed a dress to wear to my sisters graduation and for the summer in general. I found a beautiful greeny-teal colour and I loved it. Typically I don't really go for strapless tops or dresses but this one was just beautiful and very flattering! There's a lovely cut out in the back as well and I just feel so confident in it. It is difficult to see in the picture, but underneath the lace there is a solid part that only goes to the knees. So from the knees down it is just the lace (the picture just makes the whole dress look opaque). I find this dress goes perfectly with the jean vest.
Front of dress (sorry it's a bit crooked!)
Back of dress
I also bought a pair of jeans into the change room just so I had something to try the shirts on. I ended up liking the shorts so much that I bought those instead of some of the tops. They just fit really nicely and the pattern on the front is neat. I also needed a pair of shorts for the summer.

The final item I got from Urban Planet was  a tank top. It was just really cute, and I really liked the cut out in the back. I already have a lot of tank tops but I know I will wear this one a lot. Plus it was fairly cheap so I bought it. All the items I got from this store were really great deals.

Back
We then drove to the mall to get a few gifts for people. Bath and Body works was the first stop. That store is so dangerous for me because it just smells so wonderful and I get sucked into buying things for myself so easily. Well as soon as we walked in we spotted some candles and of course we needed to smell them. They had a deal on so my friend and I both got two three wick (even though we didn't really need them...). We ended up both getting London Calling (which is a tea and lemon scent) and Paris Daydream (which is a floral scent) which both have really pretty designs on the lid. Both are lovely :)

We then bought the gifts that we needed to get and got out of the mall as fast as we could before we spent more money. I enjoyed the day not only because of what I bought, but because I was able to spend the day with one of my best friends. :)
I hope you all have a fantastic day, and remember to smile!

One Day

During the school year, I find it so difficult to read books because I am so busy already. That is why during the summer holiday I try to read as many books as I can. Over the course of the summer I decided that I will write about some of the books that I have read and enjoyed. One book that  I have just recently finished reading  is One Day by David Nicholls.
I really enjoyed this book! The whole format of it was really neat. It goes through the life of these two characters, Emma and Dexter. It begins when they are in their early twenties and each chapter is the same day (July 15th) but a year later. It tells about the struggles they face as they grow older. They both have dreams they wish to fulfill, although they are very different. Their friendship is rocky at times, and at points they don't even speak to each other, but they realized they needed each other. I find it so amazing how consumed in a book you can become. For me characters seemed so real and I felt so many different emotions.
The ending of the book is quite shocking and tragic. I did not expect it at all. I don't want to say to much as that may ruin the story for some of you who wish to read it, but it was a very surprising end. Although the end this I still loved it. I am glad I decided to finally read this book. If any of you are looking for a good book to read I would definitely recommend this one! :)

What a Beautiful Day!

Hiiii :)

Today I woke up in a wonderful mood. It was nice and sunny, and the perfect temperature. It was warm enough to go outside and get things done but not so hot that you don't want to move. It was absolutely beautiful and I was able to enjoy the weather because it was a holiday so I didn't have to do anything. Needless to say I spent the majority of my day outside. Because it was so nice, my mom and I decided it would be perfect to get some flowers for our garden. We got home and spent a few hours kneeling in dirt, pulling weeds, getting bitten by mosquitoes and planting flowers. It was actually a lot more fun than it sounds! I had a such a lovely day with my family. At the moment there is a thunderstorm (it's amazing how quickly the weather can change), but I do love watching a good storm before bed :)

I hope you all had a marvelous day as well, and spent it with people you love:)

Cute As A Button

Hiii:)
I have this little obsession with nail polish that usually begins every spring and lasts until school begins again. I absolutely love buying all the different colours and painting my nails. I think my nail painting skills have definitely improved with the amount that I paint them :) I tend not to do my nails as often in the winter months because school, hockey and other activities keep me busy and there is simply not enough time. Although I love doing my nails it is a tedious task as I hate waiting for them to dry. I always seem to chip them not long after as well which is kind of my own fault!

Anyways, today I did my nails and I wanted to share it with you as the colour I used is one of my favourites at the moment.
There are two colours on my nails at the moment but the pinky coral one is my favourite. I hadn't had a chance to try the white one and I figured these colours went nicely together. I wouldn't really call the white nail polish "sparkly" but there is a definite shimmer in it. It didn't really turn up great in the picture although the second picture captures it a bit. I do really like this one as well but the coral is just amazing! Every time I wear it someone compliments me on it. It lasts for a good amount of time and I think it is perfect for this season. I just got it about a month or two ago and I have already worn it three times. I just think it is soooo pretty:)
The pink-coral colour is called "cute as a button" (essie) and the shimmery white is "It's All About the Glam"(Nicole by OPI). These nail polishes can be expensive sometimes but I was able to get both of these on sale at a very good price. I am very happy with both of these polishes.
Feel free to leave any thoughts below, and I hope you all have a wonderful day! :)

My Newly Purchased Albums

     Hiiii :)
The other day, my friends and I went to the mall to purchase some birthday gifts and some other necessities. We had walked the length of the mall and were about to turn around and walk back to the other end, but we saw HMV. For those of you that don't know, this store sells music, movies, games, etc. Going into this store is very dangerous for me because there is no way for me to leave without buying something. I have very little self control:P I am aware that many of you probably just prefer to buy music online, but personally I like to have an actual hard copy of the CD, so I love going into this store!

We entered the store and I spotted a CD that I really wanted to get. I then saw another and this went on for a while. In total, I bought five CD's.... I just couldn't help myself. I purchased the following:
  • To Be Loved- Michael Buble
  • "Bad Blood"-Bastille
  • All the Little Lights- Passenger
  • Right Place Right Time- Olly Murs
  • Love Actually Soundtrack

I absolutely love each CD that I got, and they are all so different from each other.  The ones that I have definitely listened to the most are Michael Buble's and Bastille's. I have loved Michael Buble for a very long time, and whenever he releases a new CD I get very excited. I love listening to him sing, his voice is so smooth and perfect!  I absolutely adore "To be Loved"! It is so wonderful and it puts me in an instant good mood! Although it is so hard to pick a favourite song, I think I will have to choose Who's Lovin' You. It has been stuck in my head since I got this CD. I am very pleased with this disc and I am so happy that I bought it. It is one of those CD's that you can listen to in any mood!
"Bad Blood" by Bastille is so very different from Buble's album yet it is just as wonderful. I heard them for the first time a few months ago when I saw someone do a cover of one of their songs on Youtube. For me, this is such a great album for spring and summer. My favourites would have to be Pompeii and Flaws. I love listening this album while I'm driving, windows down and music blaring. The songs are all very catchy. Most of the songs are upbeat, although there are a few slower ones, such as Oblivion. This is definitely and album that I will love for a very long time.
For a while I have wanted to buy Olly Murs' new CD. Since he is a British artist, his CD came out later here in Canada than it did in Europe so I had to wait patiently. I am so happy that I was finally able to get it because his songs are just so upbeat and make me want to dance. Sadly I have no dancing skills and I do look quite silly, but it is just so much fun:)
All the Little Lights by Passenger is very good as well. The songs are all fantastic. It is nice to listen to when I am just sitting in my room reading or something. It is very relaxing, and I just think he has the neatest voice! I have been listening to this a lot as well.
The fifth album is the Love Actually soundtrack. This movie is honestly amazing, I could watch it over and over again and never get sick of it! I do love the music in it, so when i saw this CD on the rack I picked it up right away! I think the music in movies is so important. It helps make a scene come to life, and the music for this movie is perfect. I love listening to this album, it makes me happy and reminds me of some of my favourite parts of the movie.

I do not regret buying any of these CD's because I know for certain I will get good use out of them! I would recommend all these albums as I love them all. If any of you have new (or old) albums that you are enjoying, let me know about them below:)

Letters

I have always loved getting letters in the mail. When I was younger, my mom was the director of a camp and I would go there every summer. During the winter months, I would constantly write and receive letters from the friends that I made at the camp. Now a days people just use the internet to connect with people. Don't get me wrong, social networking is very useful, and I have remained in contact with many people because of it. But there is just something about getting a letter in the mail. It is so exhilarating to open that letter and see your friend's handwriting sprawled across the page. I am aware that this may sound old fashioned, but I love it!

The reason that I have brought this up is because I have just recently finished my first year of university, and one of my friends that I made lives in Alberta. This is quite far from where I live and although she just recently got Facebook, we decided to write letters to each other. To me, getting an actual letter is much more satisfying than a simple Facebook message. On Tuesday, I received my first letter from my friend and I cannot explain to you how delighted I was to get this. It was such a lovely surprise as I had no idea when she was going to send one.

When I had finished reading it, I was thrilled because it meant that I got to write one back to her. Now I do get a bit carried away sometimes when I am writing, and so mine was quite lengthy but I know she will enjoy it nevertheless.

Using the internet as a way to connect with people is definitely the most convenient way to do things, but to me writing a letter is so much more special and personal.

Feel free to leave any thoughts you may have below, and I hope your day is filled with happiness!

Hi there :)

Hiiii...
I really do not know how else to begin this, but I guess that is a good place to start! I have had the urge to blog for quite a while and I finally have begun. Honestly,  I am not entirely sure what it will be about, but I think that adds an element of surprise/suspense. I don't want to limit myself to what I write here. Perhaps I will write about things that amaze or excite me. I will warn you though, what astounds me is often the simplest things in life. I may write about my family, my friends, my life, and basically anything that is important to me. I am aware that this is a very vague introduction, and I apologize for that, but I really haven't the faintest idea of what exactly will appear on this blog. I am thrilled to begin this journey and feel free to give me feedback on anything that I may say. I am always open to other peoples ideas. :) And with that I shall leave you with your thoughts! I hope you all have a wonderful day!
