By the Lake

Hiiiii!!

Again I'm an going to write about Southampton. Just like last year, my mother, sister and I made the trek to Southampton, a four hour drive from where we live (which isn't too bad.... it could have been much worse!) My mother's cousin has a cottage there, and she is always so kind to let us come for a visit.I started my fourth year on University on September 3rd, but I still considered this part of the summer. We left that day after my class and stayed for Labor Day weekend. We lucked out because the weather was BEAUTIFUL!(As I write this is is raining and cold outside and I am longing for those warm sunny days on the beach).

Southampton is such a calming, beautiful place and honestly could come straight out of a book.   The beaches are gorgeous, there are people riding bikes everywhere, there are so many cute shops along the main street, lighthouses are everywhere, and the list could go on.

It was my last trip of the summer and I couldn't be more grateful for such a wonderful weekend before the stresses of school begin to creep up.

Of course I need to share some picture from this little holiday (even though they don't even come close to capturing the essence of this place).

In an alleyway on the main street someone had set up their little shop

This is the beach just down the road from where our cottage is, and we stayed here the majority of our trip
Pictures of the sun seem so magical to me!! You can see the beams of light shining down on the water

On Friday nights during the summer they have a bagpiper on the main beach who plays as the sun sets

The last night, we were about to leave but through the trees we could see the sun setting so we doubled back to the beach and enjoyed our last sunset in Southampton for this year. Watching a sunset is one of the most beautiful things on this earth, and I never get tired of it. Just look at it.... there really is nothing like it!! (this picture doesn't even do it justice!)
My sister who hates being photographed:P
This has to be my favourite picture that I took
My mom's cousin, my sister and my mother; I was trying to be sneaky and take their picture without their knowledge:P
Whenever I come here, I just feel happy. It is not necessarily the most exciting place but I enjoy it immensely.

Let me know if there is a place where you like to go that just fills you with happiness. Everybody has at least one, and I'd love to hear where they are. And if you are visiting Ontario, I would definitely recommend going to Southampton (in the summer at least, i'm not sure what it's like in the winter:P)

I hope you all have a wonderful day, and for those of you who started school, I hope your first week went well!

Current Hair Products

Hiiiii!! :D

I have curly/wavy hair, and in the summer heat it gets SUPER frizzy.... yay for me. I don't have patience to spend a lot of time on my hair, but there are a few products which are staples for me, especially in the summer.

The first one is Moroccanoil and this is my holy grail, all time favourite hair product. It is expensive, however I have been using the same bottle for almost two years and I still have some left.... it lasts an extremely long time! In my opinion it is worth the money (plus I got mine on sale which was great). It smells wonderful, and you don't need too much.

I used about a dime sized amount of this oil , and run it through my damp towel dried hair, focusing more on the bottom half of my hair. I just really helps to smooth everything out, and leaves your hair feeling really soft and healthy.

I have also really been loving Lush's R&B hair moisturizer. One of my lovely friends got this for me for christmas and I have been using it ever since. This is more of a pomade type texture, and again you don't need very much, plus it has a lovely scent. I just take a little bit on my fingers, rub it together, and apply it mainly again on the bottom half of my hair.

This is a thicker product, and if you use to much, your hair will not feel nice. I will use this if I'm having a shower in the morning and twirl my fingers around and I just get the most lovely, non frizzy curls. If I have a shower before bed and sleep with this in my hair, it just gets really knotted, so I only use this product in the morning.

Now of course it is impossible to get rid of ALL the frizz, but I find that using these two products really helps my hair a lot, without it feel weighed down :)

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend,

Bright Nails for the summer:D

Hiiiii!! :D

The past few weeks I have been sporting some  bright nails, and I have to say I love it! Many people may not necessarily like these statement nails, but personally, I think they are so fun especially with the weather just starting to get nice!

The four I have used this past month are the Quo by Orly nail polishes in Femme Fatale  and Jawbreaker (my absolute favourites), Essie's Cute as a button, and Revlons' wild card.

The two Quo nail polishes are beautiful neon shades and I think they are just so amazing!! First of all they last a long time, which I think is important in a bright nail polish since chips are much more noticable. The formula of these nail polishes is phenomenal! They are such pretty summery shades and they do make you look more tanned than you are. I also think they look awesome with the revlon matte topcoat.

Jawbreaker
Femme Fatale with a matte topcoat

Cute as a button is a gorgeous pinky colour and it was one of my favourites last summer as well. It's not as BAM in your face as the Quo polishes , and it doesn't last as long , but it's beautiful nonetheless.

Excuse the horrible picture and the one white nail, But this is a photo from a previous blog post showing cute as a button:)

And finally, Revlon's colourstay gel envy polish in wild card is a gorgeous royal blue. Again , it's not as bright and neon as the quo polishes , but it is the perfect blue for summer in my opinion. It's not too dark , and it is beautiful. This also lasts a long time on the nails. Now sadly I did not take a picture of this on my nails, so I apologize for that. But you'll just have to take my word for it! It's amazing!

Let me know what bright nail colours you've been loving! I hope you all have a wonderful day, wherever you are, an are enjoying the lovely weather!

Makeup bits and bobs

Hellooo! :)

I feel like I haven't done a makeup post in FOREVER and thought I'd share some of my favourite products that I've been using almost every day. I am a creature of habit and when I find something I like I will use it excessively. Here are some products that have tickled my fancy:P

Too Faced better than sex mascara:
This is just a sample size, but I love it! It adds so much volume to my lashes, and makes them stand out. When I don't want to wear a ton of makeup I'll just put this on and my lashes look amazing.

Nyx black retractable eyeliner and Nyx jumbo eye pencil in milk:
I usually wear the black eyeliner on my tight line. It is waterproof so it stays all day and helps define my lashline. I put the jumbo pencil on the inner corner of my eyes and blend with my finger. It makes me look more awake which is always a plus!

Naked skin bb cream by urban decay:
I just recently got the travel size of this bb cream and I have loved it so far! I hardly notice it's on my face and yet it makes my skin look so much better. It also has SPF 20 in it which is important and it is light coverage, perfect for summer! It is unfortunate though how this bb cream is only available in one shade that apparently changes to fit your skin. It works for me, but I feel if you are super pale, or a lot darker than me this wouldn't work for you.

Too Faced Chocolate soleil bronzer:
I have been using this for so long and I still love it! Personally, I prefer bronzer over blush and this one is perfect. It is matte and smells like chocolate which I love.  I don't really contour as much as I just put it everywhere to bronze up my face.

Nars Kalahari duo:
The shade I have been using non-stop is the mauvy-brown colour on the right. It is neutral and subtle, and yet so beautiful!! I usually apply it with my finger and then add a bit more with a blending brush (the sigma E40) to the crease to give it a flawless look.  The shimmery brown shade on the left is gorgeous as well, however there is some fallout and when I'm in a rush I don't have time to fuss with it.

Sigma E40 brush:
This brush is wonderful and I use it basically every time I apply eyeshadow. It is the perfect blending brush and it make everything so much easier! I kind of wish it was white though, cause it's hard to tell when it's getting dirty:P

Maybelline colour tattoo in creamy beige:
It looks darker in this picture than it actually is, but I've been using it as my primer underneath my eyeshadow, particularly the nars duo mentioned above. There are tiny shimmers in it but these are not seen when applied to the eye. It makes my eye makeup last so much longer throughout the day.

These products are basically what I use when I need to do my makeup quickly and all of them work wonerfully :)
Let me know what you favourite every day products are at the moment, and I hope you have a wonderful day!!

What to do ,what to do

Hiiiii!

I feel like it's been a long time since i've been on here, but i'm glad to finally have a chance to sit down and just write a blog post. Basically I finished year three of my undergrad a few days ago and it's such a relief! It's also a tad terrifying as I have been extremely confused lately about what I want to do in my life, and I basically have one year left to figure out what my next move is. I have a few ideas of the kind of jobs I want to do, but theres no certainty in anything which is kind of stressful. In my worrying about the future though, I think it's important to remember that everything happens for a reason and that everything will turn out okay in the end. I have wonderful friends and family who will be with me every step of the way and I can always count on them.

I definitely did not intend for this post to get so serious:P But I feel like a lot of people are in this situation, and if you are, maybe seeing this will make you at least feel a bit better knowing other people feel this way too!

I hope you all have a wonderful day or night wherever you are:P

Urban Decay Pulp Fiction Palette

Hiiiii! :)

A few weeks ago I was browsing through Sephora online and I came across the Pulp Fiction Palette. It was on sale for $19 and so of course I had to get it and I am so glad I did. I absolutely love it!!First off I really do like the packaging. It's a nice sleek cardboard packaging with a magnetic enclosure, and it has a quote from the movie on the front.

The Palette comes with five colours:Righteous, Tyranny, Vengeance, Furious and Anger ( the last two are only half shadows). This is a matte palette, with the exception of Anger which has only the slightest shimmer. My favourite would have to Tyranny which is just such a neat brown colour. I usually only wear neutral shadows so this palette is perfect for me!

I have been using this palette so much recently, it is just fantastic. The colours are pigmented, and they blend like a dream, plus they are not chalky at all! It also comes with a dual ended brush which I actually get some use out of.

I would highly recommend this palette, it is pretty amazing! Plus it is still on sale so definitely get it while you can

Let me know if you've tried this palette and what you thought of it!
I hope you all have a lovely day

We got kittens!!

Hiiiiii!:)
Last Saturday, my family drove to a farm not far from our house to get a kitten. Our cat dumbledore ran away a few months ago and we decided it was time to get another (although we still miss him terribly). When we got there the kittens were just so adorable so we ended up getting two. I'm glad we did because they do everything together- sleep, eat, play

They are so incredibly cute and I love them already, although we are still unsure about the names. Hopefully we'll decide on some as soon as possible!

Jasper seems to be getting along with them pretty well , although he gets a little too excited sometimes. They're so little I'm afraid he's gonna step on them. They do get a tad scared when he barks but other than that they are just extremely fascinated by him:P

It's only been a week since we've had them and already they've grown so much. I'm just so happy we got two wonderful kittens with such awesome personalities ( and who also like to cuddle A LOT)
I'll stop bombarding you all with kitty photos, and I hope you have a wonderful day!!
